Professor, History and Government
Martin Menke (BA, Tufts University; MA and PhD, Boston College) is professor of History and Government at Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire. A modern German historian, he focuses on political Catholicism in the 20th century and is particularly interested in the tension between religious and national identity among German Catholics. He has published in Catholic Historical Review, Kirchliche Zeitgeschichte, and Church and State. This spring, he is on sabbatical to complete a manuscript on German Catholic politicians and the Nazi seizure of power. Martin Menke serves as vice president of the New England Historical Association.
